Garnett notches top five finish in Wichita
Brice Garnett withstood Sunday’s 100-degree heat in Wichita to finish in a four-way tie for fourth place in the Preferred Health Systems Wichita Open.


Boys basketball camp dates set

Gallatin varsity boys basketball coach Brent Burke has announced times for an upcoming camp for boys entering grades four through 12.


Girls JH basketball camp dates set

Gallatin junior high basketball coach Cindy Boles has set dates for a camp for girls entering grades four through eight.

The camp will be held in the GHS gym June 18 and 19, from 1 to 3 p.m., and June 20 and 21 from 9 to 11 a.m.

There is no cost for the camp, unless a camper wishes to buy a t-shirt. For more information, contact Coach Boles at 660-663-2037.


Drive for Gold Golf Tournament for Special Olympics raises $2,755

Biggs Osborn kicked off the Special Olympics Drive for Gold Golf Tournament held June 9 at the Daviess County Country Club. Winners of the tournament were M. Lang, J. Donovan, M. Lang and B. Garnett, R. Williams, D. Wigglesworth, C. Lang, K. Hefley, V. Hefley, J. Donovan, J. Land, I. Bridgeman, and M. Adkison. The benefit tournament was presented by the Daviess County Sheriff’s Office, with all proceeds goingto the Special Olympics.


Garnett pars back nine on Friday but misses cut; focus returns to Nationwide Tour

Webb Simpson rallied to win the 2012 U. S. Open, the first major tournament win of his career, but the real winner over the weekend was The Olympic Club golf course. Gallatin=s Brice Garnett followed up an 8-over par 78 on Thursday with a 77 on Friday and failed to make the cut in his first major event. His two-day total of 155 placed him 140th of 156 competitors striving to play on through Sunday.

No golfer finished the 72-hole tournament under par. Only three, Jim Furyk, David Toms and Tiger Woods, finished under par after the first two days of competition.
