74 years later, Jesse Reynolds recognized for special service
Jesse Reynolds received a certificate from the V.F.W. National Headquarters for his past service in the Navy as well as for his ongoing participation in the Honor Guard during a meeting of Frank Frazier Gallatin VFW Post 2172 held June 22, at the community building in Dockery Park.

Be careful with fireworks to prevent wildfires The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) reminds people to be extremely careful with fireworks during this time of very dry conditions and lack of rain. MDC also urges campers and others in the outdoors to follow the precautions below to protect lives, property and Missouri’s precious forests, fish and wildlife.

July fourth is quickly approaching and several local fireworks stands have opened. Gallatin Police Chief Mark Richards would like to take this opportunity to wish the citizens of Gallatin a safe and happy fourth of July and to point out the ordinances for shooting fireworks within the city.

Administrative hearing held on claims
The distribution of funds to claimants against Gallatin Livestock Auction was addressed at an administrative hearing on Monday, June 25, in the Daviess County Courthouse in Gallatin.

Pauline Froman sentenced to 18 months
Pauline Froman was sentenced to 18 months in federal prison without parole on June 25. She was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Gary A. Fenner in the Western District of Missouri. The court also ordered her to pay $2,861,304 in restitution.

Lions Eye Research to hold free vision screening in Gallatin
The Missouri Lions Eye Research Foundation will host a free Healthy Vision Screening from 11:15 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. at the Daviess County Senior Center, 109 S. Main St. in Gallatin on Friday, July 13. Driver falls asleep, wrecks car
An Altamont teenager received moderate injuries in a one-vehicle accident at about 2:10 a.m. June 22 on Hwy. 69, five miles north of Altamont.

Winston’s Jesse James Days coming (back) to town
The Winston Historical Society will be holding the 25th Annual Jesse James Days July 13-14 in Winston. The event is resuming this year after a one-year absence from the calendar of Daviess County festivals.

Missing person alert
Caldwell County Missouri has issued an endangered person advisory for a missing person incident that occurred at Lathrop at 2 a.m. on June 15. Missing is Carol Jo Thompson, a white, female, age 50.
