Brice Garnett withstood Sunday’s 100-degree heat in Wichita to finish in a four-way tie for fourth place in the Preferred Health Systems Wichita Open.

Coming off the U.S. Open, Garnett returned to the Nationwide Tour, looking for his first victory of the season. The Gallatin High School grad shot four under on Thursday and five under on Friday to put himself in contention. Rounds of 69 on both Saturday and Sunday were good enough for a second top 10 finish on the 2012 Nationwide Tour.

Brice, who birdied three of his final eight holes on Sunday, finished 13-under par for the tournament and five shots off the winning pace. His fourth place finish paid $23,625 and moved him to 36th on the Nationwide list of earnings for 2012.

Next up this week for Garnett is the United Leasing Championship at Victoria National Golf Club in Newburgh, Ind.
