Winston’s Jesse James Days coming (back) to town

The Winston Historical Society will be holding the 25th Annual Jesse James Days July 13-14 in Winston. The event is resuming this year after a one-year absence from the calendar of Daviess County festivals.

The schedule of events is as follows:

Friday, July 13 — Homemade ice cream social at 6 p.m.; concessions; Ministerial Alliance gospel music at 7 p.m.

Saturday, July 14 — biscuits and gravy breakfast at the Winston Fire House 7-9 a.m.; baby show and horseshoe pitching contest at 9:30 a.m. (registrations begin at 9 a.m.); games for kids and teens from 12 noon to 3 p.m; parade at 1 p.m. (registration at 12:30 at the park); classic car show from 2-6 p.m.; drag racing contest, limbo contest, and skit at 4 p.m.; Vera Nelson’s dance club at 5 p.m.; hula hoop contest and ‘50s dress contest at 6 p.m.; oldies music show at 7 p.m.

The historic Winston Depot will be open for tours, and there will be flea market and food vendors. Prizes will be awarded for contests. The dessert walk will be conducted throughout the day, as well as raffles and free drawings.
