Pictured, left to right, are five first-born males from the Reynolds family: Ron Reynolds, 60,
of Kansas City, a 1963 graduate of Gallatin High School; Mark Reynolds, 42, Kansas City; Jesse
Afton, who turned one on his birthday Feb. 11, when the picture was taken; Afton’s father, David
Reynolds, 24, Platte City (his mother is Jamie); and Jesse Reynolds, who turned 90 on Feb. 18. Jesse
is a resident of Rest Easy Apartments in Gallatin. Jesse used to own Reynolds Garage in town. He
moved to the apartments three yeas ago. Jesse had bypass surgery at age 66. Afterward, he did what
the doctor told him to do as far as exercise and diet. In fact he does 100 push ups and 200 sit ups a
day and has put in 11,000 miles in 10 years on his exercise bike. On another note regarding the family,
little Afton was named after his maternal grandfather, Afton Schmitt, who used to be a highway
department foreman in Gallatin before moving to Maryville.
